Dear Parents and Armbrae Community Members:
School Startup
It has been a terrific start to this new school year. We’ve already enjoyed a number of community building events and activities including our opening all-school assembly, our very first CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) Fair, the annual APA Barbecue, and this morning’s Primary Commencement ceremony. Tomorrow, our Middle and Upper School students head off to various camp experiences designed to give our students opportunities to try something new, fortify existing friendships, and to make new memories.
In addition, the first APA meeting will be taking place tomorrow, Thursday, September 14th at 6:00pm at the Oxford Campus. The APA will be talking about the upcoming school year, how to get involved and a chance to mingle with some new and familiar faces.
Hurricane Lee
As you know, we are expecting significant rainfall beginning this evening through the weekend, and high winds expected on Saturday and Sunday. Although we do not anticipate having to close on Monday, it is worth reviewing our normal school closure procedures. Below are the regular channels and procedures for communicating school closures due to inclement weather.
Inclement Weather - Normal School Closure Procedures
In cases of inclement weather or power outages, Armbrae may choose to close the school if the safety of our community is at risk. Under normal circumstances, the decision to close school will be communicated by 6:00am the morning of the closure in the following ways:
- CBC Radio One (90.5 FM)
- CBC Storm Watch
- Pushpage (e-mail bulletin) to the community
- Pop-up notice on the school website
- Social media channels - FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter
Health Update: Fall Respiratory Viruses
In the next edition of the Two Weeks Ahead, we will provide you with a primer that will include some helpful information and reminders on practical steps we can take to stay safe. As always, thank you to Dr. Babar Haroon for consulting with us on this.
Have a safe and happy weekend!
Sincerely,
Steve
