Parent Teacher Conferences: October 19th and 20th
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held in person on Thursday, October 19th (4:00pm - 9:00pm) and Friday, October 20th (9:00am - 3:00pm). Information on signing up for conferences will be sent out later this week.
- Please note there will be no after school programmes or co-curriculars on Thursday, October 19th & all students will be dismissed at 3:15pm. There will be no school on Friday, October 20th.
Monday, October 23rd: Social Networking Safety Presentation (6:30pm - 7:30pm - In Person)
Social Networking Safety Presenter Paul Davis is returning to Armbrae to speak to our students and parents. Mr. Davis will speak to Grades 4 - 6 in the morning and Middle & Upper School students in the afternoon. All parents and community members are invited to attend his presentation in the AARC. This is an event not to be missed! Please save the date and use this link to register.
IWK Casual Days:
Our first IWK Casual Day will be on October 13th. On these days students can pay $3 for the privilege of wearing their casual clothes. Students can either bring $3 each time or e-transfer $21 for the 7 casual days ahead of time. Remembrance Day Honour Roll
This year, we would love to continue the tradition of honouring your family members who have served in the CAF, RCMP, HRP, etc. in our Remembrance Day Honour Roll slideshow. We ask that you send in a picture of them (in uniform if possible), their name, and a quick note on their relation to the student, area of service and rank. Please send to Mr. Ur (bur@armbrae.ns.ca)
Youth Running Series – Kevin Jager
The next Youth Running Series Race is Scary Beazley on Saturday, October 28th. This is a fun event open to all levels of runners. Wear your Halloween costume if you dare!
Date: Saturday, October 28
Time: Races start at 1:00pm Bib pickup begins at 11:30am
Location: Beazley Fields, Dartmouth
Events Order: U6 Girls, U6 Boys, U8 Girls, U8 Boys, U10 Girls, U10 Boys, U12 Girls, U12 Boys, U15 & 18 Girls, U15 & 18 Boys
Track Event: 1 km = 2.5 laps / 1.5 km - 3.75 laps / 2.2 km - 5.5 laps
If you are already a full series member, you are ready to go. For non-full series runners, register at: Single Race Registration. Registration is open until 6pm, Wednesday, October 25th. Please contact Mr. Jager (kjager@armbrae.ns.ca) if you have any questions.
Foundation Years and Lower School
Thank you to the APA and all parent volunteers for a wonderful harvest breakfast this morning! Also, a huge thank you to the APA for organizing the pumpkin patch. All the students had a fantastic time picking their pumpkins and raising money for Feed NS!
A friendly reminder to please pack utensils in your child’s lunch box. Hot lunches do not come with them and we do not have any to supply students with.
Middle School
Thank you to the APA and all parent volunteers for a wonderful harvest breakfast this morning! Please save the date for the Middle School Halloween Dance on Friday, October 27th from 7:00 - 9:00pm at the Coburg Gymnasium.
Upper School
Armbrae Academy has earned a place on the AP® School Honor Roll for the 2022-23 school year! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success.
This year’s deadline to register for AP exams is Friday, November 3rd. Students can submit their registration using this form. If they would like to discuss which AP exams may be a good fit with their academic plan, students can speak with Mr. Maki. Any questions about registration or exam logistics can be directed to Ms. Read.
Athletics
- Cross Country Regionals are Thursday, October 12th at Point Pleasant Park.
- The Sr. Volleyball Tournament is on Saturday, October 14th.
- Hockey and Basketball practices start on Monday, October 16th.
- The CAIS U-13 Soccer Tournament starts on October 19-21 at Soccer Nova Scotia.

Auxiliary Programmes
Co-curriculars have started and the students are really enjoying the clubs on offer. Please check out our first addition for 23/24 Auxiliary Newsletter HERE
We will be offering PD camps when there is no school. We are also bringing back our Parent “Time Outs” ; these will happen a few Friday nights throughout the school year.

Holiday Raffle Donations – Ongoing until November
- This year we are putting together the “Ultimate Holiday Gift Basket” for our Holiday Raffle Fundraiser happening in November.
- Tickets will go on sale in November with special incentives for the best fundraisers. We are seeking gift cards to local businesses and restaurants, donations of wine or spirits, anything that would make
