A Note from Mr. Clarke
Dear Armbrae Families and Community Members:
Re-enrolment Season - Deadline Friday, February 23rd.
Given that we are in the midst of re-enrolment/enrolment season, I have had the opportunity to chat with a few parents and prospective families about tuition fees. It gives us a moment to talk about who Armbrae is, and what it means to be an independent school. Below is a direct copy/paste from our website and I think it’s worth sharing here.
Armbrae Academy is an independent school. We are independent in philosophy, driven by our unique mission/vision/values as outlined in our Strategic Plan: Unleash Your Potential. We are also independent in the way we are managed and financed: governed by an independent Board of Governors and supported only through tuition payments, auxiliary income, and charitable contributions. We are not a for-profit “private school”, nor do we receive funding from any government sources.
So please make sure you re-enrol your child(ren) and pay your deposit by February 23rd. Although this seems like an early deadline, it is not random. There are three specific reasons for the timing of this: (1) Upper School students are selecting their courses for next year, and that can impact our staffing; (2) It gives us better information when we are speaking to prospective families - do we have room for their child(ren) or don’t we? (3) And finally, the hiring season in schools takes place between January and March. Knowing our re-enrolment numbers now helps us make good hiring decisions when necessary.
As always, if you have any questions about how to re-enrol, please contact Suzanne Morrison.
Designer Purse Bingo - Saturday, February 24th.
In addition to the Osprey Golf Tournament in the fall, the Designer Purse Bingo is our only other major fundraising event of the year. It is important to get as many people out as possible, so we can make this event fun, but also so we can collectively support our School.
So this is a final call to get your tickets. If you haven’t already done so, you can get them here.
In closing, thank you so much to all our families that have already re-enroled and purchased tickets to the Designer Purse Bingo.
Happy Chinese-Lunar New Year and Happy Valentine's Day!
Steve.

You will be contacted by email if the event is canceled due to inclement weather or poor ice conditions.
Please complete the following permission form by Friday, February 16th at 9:00am to inform us whether your child will require equipment and if they are being picked up from the Oval. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Sajatovich (ssajatovich@armbrae.ns.ca) via email if you have any questions beforehand.
Mid-February is a great time to reflect on your child’s organization and progress. Reports will be emailed to parents Friday, February 23rd. In the meantime, to help you support your child to meet their deadlines, I encourage you to view this short video Mrs. Sernyk put together outlining how to get the most out of Brightspace’s Calendar.
